We all feel guilty if we take an hour off on a working day to relax, read, sleep, or even watch TV. We always have these intentions to complete a task, meet a deadline, or even complete a pending task that we have postponed for so long. And we never feel like taking a break.
Don't we have the right to spend at least an hour a day doing nothing?
Because of external influences, we are prone to or even conditioned to work for 10 hours a day, then sleep for another 8 hours, and then complete our personal activities for the remaining 6 hours.
But don't you think that our body is a machine? We even rest our cell phones for 8 hours when we sleep and don't make them function. And sometimes, we restart or put the phones in airplane mode to ensure they function without hanging up in the middle of an emergency.
We should take a break in the afternoon or evening to process the to-do lists that we have on hand. It helps us to regroup ourselves and focus on what we have in an effective manner.
As a projector about rest, I have learned that projectors are supposed to work only 3 to 4 hours a day because we don't have the energy. So identify what part of the day you work most productively.
It's later at night when I am active after 6:00 p.m. in the evening, so I drink my coffee, have some snacks, and start working, and I go till 1:00 a.m. because that's my most productive time. After all, I am a nocturnal person.
If you are a morning person, you can figure out how productive you are and when you are most productive. You must rest when you are not feeling productive. Some people cannot do work once it is dark and like to slow down, rest, and sleep.
I do it in the morning and take a nap in the afternoon. I like to start my day slowly by planning and scheduling everything, then ask about the day and begin working well later.
So finding the right time or analyzing when your body slows down is very important, and when you rest during that period and make it a habit, you may not feel guilty about taking rest every day.
It is critical to rest during waking hours; do not believe that your sleep time is your rest time; it is not.
Follow these simple steps to rest,
· Time block your day and set a time to rest or nap
· Take a minute after an hour. Close your eyes and meditate. This will help you focus better.
· If you have worked for an hour, go for a slow walk for 5 minutes and restart.
· Read a book for 15 minutes in between tasks.
· If you have a flexible schedule, try to complete a task in the morning and then do another one later and take a rest in between.
Slow down during your most productive hours to increase your productivity. This is the trick behind functioning at your total capacity. You focus and concentrate better when you take short breaks.
